Everybody has different needs to be fulfilled. This condition is happened when we are going to help the seniors. Some of seniors may ask for a shelter or housing while the other may need help in nutritional assistance. There are also some seniors who ask for help in daily interactions such as daycare, activities or one-on-one assistance. So, we have to be more specific when providing assistance for the seniors. As it has been written before, the need of the senior may be different one with another. The help also may come from various sources. The hardest part is classifying the need of those who need it.
To make that hard job easier here the step by step guides to help the seniors citizen in America:
1. Make the list of assistance that is needed by the low-income senior. Classify the assistance according to their need, such as housing, food, utilities and daycare. The most important need have to be the priority.
2. To find the assistance that is needed, contact the local community resources to ask help to find it. Find out what services are offered by each organization for seniors. The local or state government manages the federally funded services such as food stamps and emergency cash. The United Way agency, churches, hospitals and neighborhood community organizations provides additional services.
3. Taking note all of the information can be collected. The note may include agency names, phone numbers, and names of programs, locations and persons to contact. Keep write down all of the necessary information, in case the information we have got can be used in the future.
4. Find the most proper source for application information. For example, don’t request application information from a local community center if all it provides is meeting space, a playground and computer access, when searching for help finding safe shelter or permanent housing for a senior citizen.
5. Once you locate an agency that can help, fill out the application material and provide all information requested. The federal government provides fund for most agencies and service organizations. Details such as about how the money they provide is spent is required to be explained to the federal government. To enable the agency to receive further funding, you need to fill out the information correctly.
6. Once the money or assistance has awarded, follow the instructions provided by the agency. The seniors can be disqualified if they didn’t follow the instructions correctly. For example, the senior could be disqualified from the assistance program and the apartment could be handed to the next senior on the list if the senior does not show up on the date required for move-in at a local low-income apartment building.
